A traditional British Christmas favorite, Terry's Chocolate Orange was originally introduced in England around the 1930s. Each Chocolate Orange consists of a ball of 20 segments of dark chocolate flavored with orange oil. Traditionally, a Chocolate Orange is removed from the package, and while still in the orange foil wrapper it is "whacked" forcefully on a hard surface to break the segments apart.

Imported for the holidays, get them while they last.

I forgot how good the dark version is compared to the milk one I grew up with. Tapping the ball on the counter and unwrapping the foil to find all 20 segments still feels like a little ritual. The chocolate is richer and less sweet, so a couple of wedges is plenty.

I hadn't had one of these since I was a kid, and the dark chocolate version is even better than I remembered β€” 20 segments that snap apart cleanly with a satisfying crack. The 5.5oz ball lasted me about a week, one wedge after dinner each night.

The ritual of tapping it on the counter until it cracks into those 20 neat segments is somehow just as satisfying as the eating. The dark chocolate is rich and bitter-sweet, perfect for a post-dinner treat that doesn't feel overly sugary.
